A “series” is the calendar and rulebook teams race under. The most common path for junior high and high school riders here is the Utah High School Cycling League (NICA). Other series cover enduro, gravity, and open categories - we will list them as we document contacts and seasons.
Interscholastic cross-country mountain bike racing for middle and high school riders. Utah has six regions; Cedar Valley races in Region 4. High school has four regular races in its own region, then State if they qualify. Junior high typically skips regionals and State. After Utah State, NICA may also host optional Western Regionals (national) for NICA-registered high school athletes - separate from Utah Region 4 regionals.
Enduro, gravity, and regional series expand over time - placeholder for calendars and who they serve (youth vs open).

The league is split into six regions. Each region runs its own regular season. Those four races are independent of the other regions: they may land on different weekends and use different venues. State Championships is when every region is together.
On a typical race weekend, about half of Utah’s six regions are racing. Your rider’s calendar is the Region 4 schedule, not a statewide four-stop tour.
High school riders contest four regular-season races in their region, then State if they qualify. Junior high (Junior Devo) usually races the first three and does not race regionals or State.
The fourth high school race is regionals. Riders do not need an extra qualifier to start. Junior high does not race that weekend. Qualification is for State, not for regionals.
After Utah State, NICA may host Western Regionals - an optional national regional for NICA-registered high school athletes (grades 9–12). It is not Utah Region 4 regionals and is not required to finish a Utah league season. Venues and dates change; see the team race schedule when posted.
Where a region races rotates from year to year. The exact course for a weekend is often not posted until the league publishes it for that event - sometimes close to race day. Historical course pages will live here over time so families can still study a venue’s character from past seasons.
This season’s Region 4 dates and volunteer links live on theteam race schedule. Course history (when we have it) will collect on races & courses.
Other series (enduro, gravity) still need official links, season months, and registration portals as they stabilize each year.
